Stuart Jacobs

Partner and Leasehold Enfranchisement Team Lead

Stuart Jacobs undertook his training to become a partner in a boutique London law firm and joined forces with RIAA Barker Gillette in 2014. Stuart is a versatile and experienced litigation lawyer focusing primarily on commercial, property and civil litigation.

Over the years, he has successfully conducted many high-profile and ground-breaking cases in several different areas, including the confidential settlement regarding the compulsory purchase proceedings brought by the Secretary of State for Transport in relation to the acquisition of the buildings immediately in front of Euston Station, acquired for HS2 on behalf of Euston Estate.

On occasion, Stuart is contacted by the media for his views and opinions and is a former Times Solicitor of the Week.

Stuart Jacobs is a member of the Property Litigation Association (PLA), the Compulsory Purchase Association (CPA), the Dilapidations Association and the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP).

Expertise

Commercial litigation

Commercial Litigation work includes claims in all Civil Courts, the Commercial Court and arbitration. He has experience with reinsurance disputes, general contractual claims and professional negligence.

Family law

Family work includes large-scale ancillary relief cases involving significant family assets (up to €56m).

Leasehold enfranchisement

Real Estate work includes detailed knowledge of both contentious and non-contentious leasehold enfranchisement.

Property and construction litigation

Property and construction Litigation work includes breaches of contract, compulsory purchases, covenants, easements landlord and tenant and work in the High Court, County Courts, First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) – to include the compulsory purchase proceedings brought by the Secretary of State for Transport in relation to the acquisition of the buildings immediately in front of Euston Station, acquired for HS2 – and adjudications.
