The Euston Estate: Compulsory purchase proceedings

RIAA Barker Gillette act in the largest and most complicated action in the Upper Tribunal of its kind!

Following the announcement in Parliament, we are pleased to confirm that Euston Estates LP and Balfe Ltd have concluded a confidential settlement regarding the compulsory purchase proceedings brought by the Secretary of State for Transport in relation to the acquisition of the buildings immediately in front of Euston Station, acquired for HS2.

Euston Estates LP and Balfe Ltd were represented by RIAA Barker Gillette’s property litigation team led by litigation partners Stuart Jacobs and Laura St-Gallay in what has been described as the largest and most complicated action of its kind in the Upper Tribunal to date.

The instruction involved the management of a multi-disciplinary team of surveyors, valuers, planning experts, rights of light experts and engineers in conjunction with a team of Barristers from Francis Taylor Buildings led by Guy Roots KC, Alexander Booth KC, Rebecca Clutten and Daisy Noble.

Richard Anning of Euston Estate, who led the client’s team, pays tribute:

“…to the exceptional expertise and dedication of the RIAA Barker Gillette team and the Barristers whose commitment to their client’s interests went above and beyond the call of duty.”
