{"id":4531,"date":"2022-05-09T15:59:22","date_gmt":"2022-05-09T15:59:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.riaabarkergillette.com\/pk\/?p=4531"},"modified":"2024-04-18T17:05:05","modified_gmt":"2024-04-18T17:05:05","slug":"riaa-barker-gillette-pakistan-acts-for-star-hydro-power-limited-in-delay-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riaabarkergillette.com\/pk\/news-story\/riaa-barker-gillette-pakistan-acts-for-star-hydro-power-limited-in-delay-dispute\/","title":{"rendered":"RIAA Barker Gillette (Pakistan) acts for Star Hydro Power Limited in delay dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>RIAA Barker Gillette&nbsp;(Pakistan)&nbsp;acted&nbsp;for Star Hydro Power Limited (Star Hydro) in&nbsp;its dispute with the&nbsp;National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC)&nbsp;regarding NTDC&#8217;s delay in completion of&nbsp;the interconnection works&nbsp;necessary for connecting Star Hydro\u2019s hydropower project to Pakistan\u2019s national grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Star Hydro owns and operates the 147MW run-of-the-river Patrind hydropower project in\u00a0Azad Jammu and Kashmir.\u00a0The electric power generated by the project is sold to NTDC, Pakistan&#8217;s national grid company,\u00a0pursuant to a power purchase agreement (PPA).\u00a0South Korean giants K-water and Daewoo Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd sponsor the Patrind project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We successfully represented Star Hydro in expert determination proceedings under the\u00a0PPA.\u00a0The expert decided the dispute in favour of Star Hydro and found NTDC responsible for the delays in\u00a0testing and commissioning the project. This is the first expert determination in which NTDC has been held accountable for such a delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the\u00a0expert determination, the parties initiated arbitration proceedings at the London Court of International Arbitration.\u00a0Star Hydro\u00a0is seeking recovery of further amounts due to the delay, whereas\u00a0NTDC\u00a0has\u00a0challenged the\u00a0expert decision.
